If you’ve worked for a high performing team or organization you might have heard the acronym GSD before. Get (Stuff) Done.
The person who came up with this acronym probably was an Executing person because that is naturally what they do. They get stuff done. These people also reflect the statement, “If you want something done, ask someone who is busy.” Executing people love doing things and getting stuff done.
Miss the first parts? Read them here.
What they do and how they do it can vary wildly depending on their motivations: their natural patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving. But the end result usually looks similar. Long hours, dedication to work (or a craft), a drive that goes beyond caffeine.
Ask an Executing person why they do what they do. It could be because they live a life of purpose and anything aligned to that purpose fuels them. They could just like doing things for the sake of accomplishment. They might just like juggling many different tasks. Or they have a pull to fix things or take ownership of them.
For those of you who always live your life in redline because you are an executing person, your drive to executive might be hindering some (or many) parts of your life. Stay tuned for next week where we will dive into that.
